Unity Project Partners: We Work Better Together.

Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD): A partnership for the Unity Project (UP) to provide arts and service based resilience building programming to the vast SADD national network of 10,000 chapters, starting in 323 Massachusetts high schools in the fall of 2007.

The Department of Youth and Community Development of the City of New York (DYCD): A partnership between UP and DYCD post 9/11 to create in-depth resilience building programming for 23,000 high school students in 201 after school programs throughout the city.  

  • Launched at Gracie Mansion, March, 2003.
  • Provided training to 80 DYCD “Beacon Program” sites that serve nearly 700,000 children.
  • “The Healing Arts” symposium at NYU gathered over 250 community agencies to support the city post 9/11.
  • Youth Week, June, 2003 city wide displays of kids’ art depicting resilient growth and unity in diversity after 9/11.
  • Plans to continue work in 201 high school after school programs beginning in the fall of 2007.

Young Audiences (YA): The Unity Project has provided training and arts based programming to the extensive network of YA throughout the Hurricane Katrina affected areas of Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas reaching many thousands of children.

Reavis School: The Unity Project has been asked to be the program provider for an Atlantic Foundation funded project in the South Side of Chicago at the Reavis School.  This work will allow us to implement our programming, collect outcome data and begin the process of translating our theory and methods into middle school curricula.

School Arts Rescue Initiative (SARI):Training teaching artists for work with thousands of children throughout New York City and Westchester County, NY.
